What is Bodywork?
At NorthNode Praxis & Strategies, when we say Bodywork, we mean support via physical or energetic modalities for an individual or collective in working toward their expressed goals. If you’re interested in learning more, please schedule an inquiry session.
All sessions are currently virtual ONLY due to COVID-19.
Doula Support
Reproductive Justice, offers a framework that is not only about the decision to have a child or not but also the choices we make around our bodies, our sexualities (or lack their of), and how we choose to grow and make family. As a doula I support people as well as their loved ones and families through the following transitional moments. I received my doula certification from the National Association to Advance Black Birth (previously International Center for Traditional Childbearing) in 2008.

Usui Shiki Rhyho Reiki
What is Reiki? Reiki is a modality that brings ease and comfort to the body through touch, based on hand placements. Often times people experiencing reiki will feel their bodies relax as well as warmth, deep cold, or release. I am trained and certified Reiki master (Reiki School + Clinic, PHL) who began studying the practice in 2013.
Isn’t Reiki culturally appropriative? It’s complicated. The lineage of Reiki that I have studied under (Takata-style) came to the US (Turtle Island) by way of Hawai’i () and was adapted specifically for Americans. So, while this is a practice of Japanese descent it was created by Japanese descendants for Americans. Wanna talk about this more? Contact me.
1:1 Hands-on: All hand-on practices will be pre-negotiated with the option of hovering based on client’s comfort/needs. ALL IRL 1:1
Distance Reiki: 1-phone/video session to determine goals followed by, 1 distance reiki session.
Yin & Reiki: A practice where the client receives reiki while in passive yoga poses. (75 min session)

Yoga/Movement
My yoga story
I was introduced to yoga by way of the trauma-informed Street Yoga teacher training in 2008 and have been practicing asana (poses) & pranayama (breath work) since 2009. That summer, I was working 60+ hours a week, dating 5 people, and sleeping with a few more; I walked into my first yoga class that I realized in the middle of a pose that I had a body that was not just about production or engaging others' desires. Yoga has been a gift to my body and my spirit.
In 2012 I received my 200hr RYT in Vinyasa from Beyond Asana (Philly), in 2013 I completed a Yin Yoga certification with Wake Up Yoga (Philly) and in 2019 I was trained in pre & post natal yoga with Lovechild (NYC). All outlined classes are trauma-informed and can be scheduled for an individual or group.
Pre/Post Natal Yoga: This 60-75 minute session, is designed for pregnant bodies or bodies that my have recently experienced birth and/or loss. If class is a mix between pre and post natal participants, appropriate modifications will be offered.
Vinyasa: This 60-90 minute alignment influenced practice links breath with movement to increase calm and mobility. No prior experience is needed, modifications will be offered for bigger bodies, disabled folks, and overall ease. Class can be adapted to 45 minutes with prior negotiation.
Yin: This 60-90 minute practice will open with a body scan and move into poses that are held for 3-7 minutes at a time. Practice will conclude with breath work and savasana. Yin is a passive practice that can be supported by way of props as appropriate.
